Sophie and I have made the fairly quick decision to go ahead and take a road trip up to Minnesota to see my sister, whose kidney disease has been causing serious complications and repeated hospital stays lately. It feels important to go while we can—when Sophie is out of school, and my sister is still there for us to visit.
